Daniel referred to himself as Daniel Marsh, 2nd, which is how he signed his name in the selling of his father's land in 1795. The deed stated that he was from Clarendon. His guardian in 1783 was his cousin Daniel & Phebe Marsh of Clarendon. Also, in the 1800 census, there were two Daniel Marsh's living in Clarendon. He probably was one of them since the other Daniel's son was not married until 1806 and would not have had his own household yet. However, Patra Anne Hepworth is researching whether this Daniel was a Congregational minister at Stillwater, NY, in 1800. A revival took place under the labors of a Rev. Daniel Marsh at Stillwater who married Anna, but it is not known whether he was our Daniel.
There was also a Daniel Marsh listed in SHREWSBURY OLD SURVEY BOOK p. 11 which may be this Daniel since he also had a brother living in Shrewsbury. Also, could Daniel have gone to Canada? There was a Daniel petitioning for land there in the early 1790's.
According to Patra Hepworth, our Daniel may have moved to Saratoga, NY.
In the 1800 census, there were 5 Daniel Marsh's listed: 2 in Clarendon, VT, 1 in Woodstock, Windsor Co, VT, and one in Hartford, CT. This Daniel was probably 26 and living in Clarendon at the time.
The death date given here may not be correct.
