Ceredig was born in his fathers original homeland of Manau Gododdin around the Upper Firth of Forth. When called upon to expel Irish invaders from North Wales, he travelled south, with the rest of his family. He fought bravely against the advancing Gaels and his father rewarded him with the most southern area of his new kingdom, bordering on Dyfed and Cantrer Gwaelod. The region became so associated with Ceredig that the people named it Ceredigion after him.

Her second husband, Jared Allen, was Anne's first cousin. Their mothers were sisters. Also, Anne's brother, Jacob, may have married his first cousin, who was a sister to Ann's husband.
After marrying John Newell, it appears that they were living in the Saratoga District of NY and were here during the Rev. War when her husband was killed at Hubbardtown for being a Tory. Anne probably left Saratoga District, Saratoga County, NY in 1782 or '83, going to Canterbury, CT, to marry Jared.
