Jacob raised his sister, Eunice's daughter, whose name was Lydia Brisbin. Lydia's father died when she was about 10. She was said to have gone to the states to live with an uncle but returned later to Canada marrying there. Buried with Jacob is a Clarissa Marsh. Frances Dunn says she is a Dau. but according to a cemetery listing on Internet she appears to be a wife. She was b. Abt 1777 and died at age 52 on 11/29/1829. Perhaps Clarissa was a 2nd wife. Frances Dunn also states that wife Elizabeth is buried with Jacob, but the cemetery record does not indicate this.
As a teenager, Jacob went to Canada with his family following the death of his father after the Revolution but returned to the States to marry his cousin.
Brothers, William & Jacob Marsh, lived in North Dorchester, Ontario and were likely the sons of either Randal or Jacob but more likely to be sons of Randal. Actually, there were 4 Marsh men living in North Dorchester, Ont. Census of 1851: Jacob 51, John 48, William 47 & Randal 35. They were all neighbors. It is not known whether they were all brothers or a combination of brothers & cousins.

BIOGRAPHY: 'he emigrated from Devonshire, Eng. in 1630 [on the 'Mary and John']. The New England branch have always traced their ancestry to Sir Ralph de Pomeroy, a French Knight in the retinue of William, the Conqueror, and to whom William, after the Conquest, gave 57 townships in Devonshire, where a castle now remains in tolerable preservation upon land now in posession of one of the family. See letter of Jan 26, 1882 from Chas S. Pomeroy' .
per photo copy of Family Register page (from a bible?) evidently belonging to Hiram Bingham II which through a series of 'begats' gives the male ancestry of his four grand parents.
M. P. Kuhns, "The 'Mary and John': a story of the founding of Dorchester, Massachusetts, 1630": '... was a Selectman of Dorchester in 1633; removed to Windsor and later to Northampton, Mass'
dates from M. P. Kuhns, "The 'Mary and John' ..."
"The First Puritan Settlers", p. 225 'Eltwed' or 'Edward'
