COLVER31.TXT
In 1385 an English army under King Richard II invaded Scotland. Sir Richard Scrope, first Baron Scrope of Bolton, was incensed to find in the camp a knight, Sir Robert le Grosvenor, bearing the same coat (azure,a bend,or) as his own. A dispute followed and a contemporary record of the suit survives. Among those who testified were John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster; the Earl of Derby (afterwards King Henry IV); the Duke of York; Sir John Holand, the king's half brother; the Earl of Northumberland and his son Sir Henry de Percy; and the poet Geoffrey Chaucer,Esq.

W R: Knighted by James I., and Member of the Irish Parliament in 1613; also Auditor General of Ireland
"Ware Family History" by Wanda Ware Degidio on line at http://hometown.aol.com/wdegidio/Ware.htm
b & d info
James attended the best schools in England, and through his fathers position in the Queens court, he gained access to the position of Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. Once a man became a Justice of the Peace and helped the community, or sat in judgement of his fellow man, he was considered a member of the gentry. Thus achieved, the next step was to sit as a Member of Parliament by being chosen as one of the knights of the shire, passing in rotation amongst the families of the gentry, or by obtaining a citizen or burgess seat, usually held by wealthy gentlemen.
James Ware settled in Ireland in 1588 arriving from Yorkshire, at age 20 as Secretary to Sir William Fitzwilliam, Lord Deputy of Ireland. In 1593 James was appointed Clerk of the Common Pleas in the exchequer.
On 6/17/1610, at age 42, James visited England and was knighted by King James I, and granted a reversionary patent of his office as auditor-general. This office continued almost a century in the family. ... On 5/18/1613, at 45, Sir James became Member of Parliament at Dublin for the borough of Mallow in the county of Cork.
