7, 1632, John and three others were "appointed by the Court to sett downe the bounds betwixte Dorchester and Rocksbury." He at once took a prominent stand among the colonists, and in 1636 and for many years afterwards, represented Ipswich in the general high court. In 1645 he was appraiser, and signed the inventory of the estate of Sarah Dillingham. In 1648 and 1652 he served on the grand jury. In March, 1650, "being above the age sixty he was freed from ordinary training of the Court." He made his will (probate office, Salem, Massachusetts), March 28, 1654, and died a few months later, aged sixty-four.

Studied at Harvard Medical College, finishing in 1815.
Went to England to expand his medical experience. Eventually he landed on the island of St. Michael in the Azores. There he practiced some medicine, and met and married Harriet Hickling. They began a family of four daughters.
Back in Boston with his new wife, John Webster first entered private medical practice, but he was never able to make a steady success of it. This fact, coupled with the disappointing news upon his father's death that there was little fortune to be left him, prompted Webster to seek another career. In about 1824, he was appointed a lecturer of chemistry at the Harvard Medical College, and in about 1827 he was promoted to professor. He was constantly in debt and ended up owing George Parkman, a Harvard collegue, a lot of money.
He murdered George Parkman, was arrested on 30 Nov 1849, was convicted in March and hanged in August 1850.
per email from Van King [newryqs@rochester.rr.com]:
Webster was falsely accused of murdering Dr. Parkman, but that conclusion wasn't reached until 1971 and is now acknowledged.
