When Zaid grew up he was called [Qusayy] because of his separation from his father's house. Returning to Mecca with a group of Odzia [sic] pilgrims, he was recognized by his brother Zohra. [Qusayy] and Zohra were both poets.
"[Qusayy] was a man of commanding person and of an energetic and ambitious temper. He was treated with great distinction by Holeil, King of the Khozaite, [sic] who gave him his daughter [Hubba] in marriage, and permitted him, or his wife, to assume the immediate management of the Kaaba. By about A.D. 440, the government of Mecca had passed into his hands. He brought into the city his [Quraysh] tribesmen, laid out the town anew, and to each family he allotted a separate quarter. For affecting the reunion of his clan, [Qusayy] was called [Mujammi'], "the Gatherer."
