Kenneth II (died 995), king of Scotland (971-95), the son of Malcolm I MacDonald (reigned 943-54). From the beginning of his reign, Kenneth waged war against the Saxons, particularly the earls of Northumbria, who occupied southern Scotland, and the Scandinavian Vikings, who controlled Scotland north of the Spey River. Although his wars were not successful, Kenneth consolidated central Scotland into a strong kingdom.

"Removed to Chesterfield, N. H., in 1763. His farm was 250 acres and lay half a mile north of that village on the main road toward Westmoreland and Dartmouth College. He built and managed Bingham's tavern on or near the Weatherbee Hill. When the Revoluntary War broke out he, with three sons, Elisha, Theodorus and Gustavus, joined the army. These three sons had settled on farms near their father. After their term of enlistment had expired he, with Theodorus and Gustavus, returned home. His eldest son, Elisha, had died in camp of camp fever.
"This Nathaniel was a selectman of Chesterfield in 1770 and 1775. In 1771 he was one of a committee to provide a minister. He and his son Theodorus were signers of what was known as the Association Test. He was also representative in the General Court for Chesterfield and Hinsdale (?) 1779-80.
"He was in a company in Col. Ashley's regiment, which went to Ticonderoga, June 29, 1777.
"He had 10 children, who all married. 8 were living in 1802."
He died of "numb palsy".
