"History ... Crusades" Vol I, p 136-7; a leader on the 1st Crusade; left northern France in Oct 1096. He had no desire to join the Crusade but it was his wife Adela dau of Wm the Conqueror who made the decisions in his house.
She wished him to go and he went.
Ibid p 62-63 died following battle with Egyptians at Ramleh. After escaping the battle which was lost to the little fortress at Ramleh. The next morning they were driven out by fire which the Egyptians built at the tower's base. When he and the few others inside tried to escape again they were hacked to pieces.
